Is there any video editing software for a PS3 that has Linux installed?

Q. I would like to be able to edit videos and make videos using my PS3, thanks.

PS: What is the best Linux to use with the PS3? I'm using Xubuntu right now and just wanted to know if there is something better, thanks.

A. No idea if it runs on a PS3, but Linux Format had a positive review of "64 Studio 2.0", a debian-based audio and video production suite - available in 32 or 64 bit versions.

What software do you recommend for amateur video editing?
Q. I've used Windows Movie Maker (does VISTA include this? I know Windows XP used to). It seems sluggish, so if anyone can recommend a good PC based editor (adobe premier?) it will get the points!

A. Hi - Adobe, Sony and Ulead are excellent tools for amateur video editing. They are commercial, full functioned and stable. But they cost money (. . .as does the AVS suite!)

It might be worth checking out some of the free editing tools that are available before you commit yourself to paying for something.

If you are on a PC there are the following:

1) Jahshaka
Jahshaka is a free multi-use offline editing tool. Although it is still fairly new on the market.

2) T@B ZS4
T2B ZS4 is a free video editing and compositing tool from Zwei-Stein. Its not for everyone, but it could be for you.

3) Wax
A free tool with powerful editing and compositing abilities.

4) Video Spin
Video Spin is the free video editing tool from Avid.

5) Vivia
Vivia is a basic editing software which is currently being developed and is in Beta testing. If you are using Linux or Windows you might want to check this out

6) Avidemux
One of the more stable and complete free tools available.

7) Blender
Blender is a powerful, multi-use editing/compositing and modeling tool. It's one of the best on the market and it's free.

8) Movica
A tool to deal with MPG and flash video. It's simple, it's powerful and it's free!

Generally speaking, unless you are only doing very basic things you may need more than one tool to create your final vision. I would recommend something like Avidemux or even Blender (If your after something very powerful and free)

Other than that you're into the 'big guns' such as Adobe Premier or Sony Vegas

Information about these and more can be found on my web site. Check my profile for that link

How do I add a mp3 to a video file?
Q. I have a mp3 file I made recording my voice in audacity and I want to add it to my video clip of jigsaw. How (or what do i need to) do I do this?

A. There are lots of simple editing programs out there which will allow you to do it. Avidemux is a cross-platform program which is available on most Linux distributions and since I use Linux I use it. You can use it on Windows and the method is simple. This describes it on some obscure Linux distro but the method is the same in Windows:

I'm sure Movie Maker has options for it and I know that mencoder will do it from the command line if you are over fifty or like to be tied up and left hanging for hours on end by someone with a good whip. Look around aat the simple video editors and there is almost always a way.
